Kaboom Books

I’ve loved this bookstore for years, and am just so glad to see places like this still exist! The owners are friendly and super helpful if looking for something specific. I personally just like to get a little lost wandering around and finding something new. Definitely check it out!

A lovely used bookstore with a huge collection of books. Im always surprised by what I find whenever I come here and always leave with a stack of books. The couple who own the store are very nice and friendly. Plus there is a sweet older cat who hangs out in the shelves.

Don’t be fooled by the subdued exterior - Kaboom is a treasure trove of used and antiquarian books of all types and eras. You’ll find books from floor to ceiling - over 100,000 in 84 sections - and everything from Aesthetics to Zoology (ok - animals). Everything is organized and alphabetized. Hooray! The owner is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve found books that are more than 100 years old and French comics that look brand new. You won’t find horror or motivational books (check Half Price) but you’ll find the intriguing and the unexpected. Drop by and plan to stay awhile.

I have been a frequent visitor of Kaboom Books for some time now and this review is long overdue. The owners are so very kind and helpful. Bookstores like this are complete rare gems in a sea of others! Their collections are simply incredible with almost every genre you can think of. They take such great care to talk with you and I’ve been fortunate to get to know them. They were also a big encouragement as I decided to make a move out of state and called Houston home!

When I first discovered this store I was on vacation and I didn’t know it then but it would be quickly become one of my favorite places on earth. Support local businesses and read on!
